Description
In honour of what would have been David Bowie’s 70th birthday this year, Raymond Weil bring us this Ziggy Stardust inspired watch as part of their Freelancer Collection – limited to 3000 pieces worldwide.
As typical for a Freelancer, this limited edition model features an automatic winding mechanism with a 38-hour power reserve, eliminating the requirement for a battery. Luminescent hands and hour markers are in the same silver tone as the stainless steel case and large prominent crown, whilst the black leather strap features red stitch detailing to mirror the colour scheme of the dial. The dial itself has been carefully textured to resemble the grooves of an old-school vinyl record, and features the iconic thunderbolt emblem, worn as stage make-up by Bowie, at 12 o’clock, and his surname in stylised text above 6 o’clock. As a final finishing touch, Bowie’s likeness is engraved onto the case-back along with the edition number of the watch.
